Are you maximizing the benefits of your new home?
HOMESTEAD TAX EXEMPTIONS
The homestead exemption can help you save money on your property taxes every year by reducing the taxable value of your home. When you make your new home your permanent residence or the permanent residence of a dependent, you may be eligible to receive a homestead exemption of up to $50,000. Further benefits are available to property owners with disabilities, senior citizens, veterans and active duty military service members, disabled first responders, and properties with specialized uses. The resources below provide general information on these exemptions and benefits.
HOW TO QUALIFY:
1. You must have lived in the home for an entire year. To apply for a homestead exemption for 2019, you must have been living in the home on January 1, 2019.
2. The home must be your primary residence.
3. You must have Florida residency, including a valid Florida driver’s license.
4. You must be a U.S. citizen or have permanent residency.
